Awakening.

Awakening   They had wrapped blinds over my eyes, tasked me with painting a scene, one I had never seen; so I had painted the brightest colours in the dullest scape to please. B+ for trying, nothing more but nothing less. Kindness or cruelty? I forget which is which. They fed me lies in shades of white all my life; taught me colours and taught me politics while I pictured a glimpse of what could have been. Oh. They just let me wonder. Kindness or cruelty? I forget which is which. They whisper at me to come to their plight for my blood is their soil, my body their right; but visions plague me, I cry out in my sleep. Is my crime just to speak? Then, beware. My hands shake from rage, not fear. Kindness or cruelty? I forget which is which.

fall

fall There's something about the way you breathe, l ike leaves free falling from a tree; orange , yellow and red , beauty thrives in death,  but yours runs deeper, what with that smirking face that is high on its misery and mocks itself.  Yet when your eyes flutter at me like the wings of a flailing bird caught in the autumn wind,  they mistakenly betray the desire to truly be free.  - Drisana

the pear, the cherries and the jug

Image
the pear, the cherries and the jug ★  A watercolour still life. I like to believe the cherries tease the pear for its unnatural shape (through no fault of its creator). And then hide atop, safe in the jug from the sharp fury of the pear's even sharper neck.

the blues

✩ the blues  ✩    Blue comes in all shapes and sizes, but I desire the one I can paint in endless tides. This painting is a monochrome still life done with Camel's Prussian blue watercolour.
