fall

 fall

There's something about the way you breathe,
like leaves free falling from a tree;
orange, yellow and red, beauty thrives in death,
but yours runs deeper, what with that smirking face
that is high on its misery and mocks itself.

Yet when your eyes flutter at me
like the wings of a flailing bird caught in the autumn wind,
they mistakenly betray the desire to truly be free.

  1. This is a beautiful poem, though melancholic. It is tender, yet sharp....slightly breathless without the punctuations.

  2. Excellent painting! The petiole looks incredibly realistic.
